FAQ’s

What happens if I can’t follow all the pre-treatment instructions?

If you’re unable to follow certain pre-treatment instructions, please contact us immediately at 368-399-4013. Some guidelines are critical for your safety and treatment results. For example, if you’ve had recent Botox, fillers, or been on certain medications, we may need to reschedule your CO2 laser or CoolPeel appointment to ensure optimal healing and avoid complications. Your safety is our top priority at our Calgary clinic, and we’d rather reschedule than risk your health or results.

How far in advance should I start preparing for my CO2 laser treatment in Calgary?

You should begin preparing at least 4-6 weeks before your CO2 or CoolPeel treatment. Start daily SPF 50+ sunscreen use (mineral preferred) immediately, and avoid sun exposure. Stop retinol products 5 days before, discontinue fish oil, omegas, turmeric, Aspirin, and Advil one week prior, and avoid fillers for 3 weeks and Botox for 10 days before your appointment. If you’re prone to cold sores, begin taking Lysine or antiviral medication as recommended. Our Mahogany clinic team is happy to answer any questions about your preparation timeline.

Can I drive myself home after my CO2 laser or CoolPeel treatment?

Yes, you can drive yourself home after your treatment, though your face will be stinging and slightly distracting for 1-2 hours post treatment. Do not drive if you have taken any prescription pain medication. Plan to go home immediately after your appointment and stay indoors for 1-7 days depending on your treatment intensity. Bring a wide-brimmed hat or umbrella to protect your skin from Calgary’s sun exposure on the way home. Your face will be sensitive and may be red or swollen, so having support can make your recovery more comfortable.
