Leg Laser Hair Removal Calgary — Permanent Results, All Skin Types

Quick Answer

Leg laser hair removal at my clinic is permanent, not a temporary reduction. I treat every Fitzpatrick skin type on a Quanta EVO, lower legs including feet and free Underarms are $225 plus GST, and most people need six to twelve sessions spaced eight weeks apart.

Leg laser hair removal in Calgary using the Quanta EVO at Elysian Laser Aesthetics

Is Leg Laser Hair Removal Actually Permanent?

Yes. At the fluence I treat at, the energy destroys the stem cells inside the follicle, and a destroyed follicle does not grow back. I use the word permanent rather than “reduction” because reduction is what underpowered devices and IPL machines achieve, and it is not the same thing.

What I will not promise is that you will never see another hair on your legs. While its easy to remove approx. 90-95% of the hair, treating every single random hair that pops over the next several years can be difficult. Most clients are thrilled with 90% permanent hair loss on their legs, however!

Legs are one of the most satisfying areas to treat because the payoff is daily. No shaving before every summer event, no stubble by evening, no ingrown hairs along the shin.

How Many Sessions Does Leg Laser Hair Removal Take?

Six to twelve for most people, and the number is driven by hair density rather than hair colour. This surprises almost everyone.

Only follicles in the active growth phase respond to any given session, so the work is sequential. Dense coarse growth simply has more follicles to get through than fine sparse growth. Someone with light, thin leg hair may finish in noticeably fewer sessions than someone with thick growth, whatever shade either of them is.

How Far Apart Are Leg Sessions?

Eight weeks minimum to start, and the gaps stretch further apart as regrowth slows. You will see four to six week schedules quoted all over the industry. That spacing is too tight for legs — it catches follicles that were never ready, and you pay for a session that could not have worked.

What Does Leg Laser Hair Removal Cost in Calgary?

Area Price
Lower legs (includes feet) $225
Upper legs $325
Full legs (includes feet) $450

All prices plus GST, charged per session rather than bundled up front. Full legs works out cheaper than booking upper and lower separately.

Two things that apply to leg laser hair removal bookings:

  • 10% off when you add a second or third area in the same appointment
  • Free underarms with any paid body area below the neck — legs qualify

Everything else is on my laser pricing page. I price per session because most people need fewer than the industry standard implies, and I would rather you find that out honestly than pay for sessions in advance.

Does Leg Laser Hair Removal Work on Dark Skin?

Yes. My Quanta EVO carries two wavelengths. The Alexandrite is fast and highly effective on lighter and mid-range skin tones. The Nd:YAG runs longer, passing through epidermal melanin to reach the follicle without depositing heat into the surrounding skin — that is the one that makes Fitzpatrick V and VI safely treatable. I also add in extra cooling which keeps melanin rich skin much safer from the laser’s heat.

If you have been turned away elsewhere, that was a device limitation, not a fact about your skin.

What About Blonde Leg Hair?

Treatable, for roughly 99% of blondes. Blonde hair still contains pigment, just less of it, and the Alexandrite targets it at the right settings. I am blonde myself and have cleared most of my own hair with this device.

Grey and white hair is genuinely different. There is no pigment at all, so no laser can target it. That is an absolute contraindication with no exceptions, and I will tell you at a free consultation rather than sell you sessions that cannot work. Free test spots are available if you are unsure which category your leg hair falls into.

Why Is Fall the Best Time to Start Leg Laser Hair Removal?

Because an active tan is an absolute contraindication for the Alexandrite. At 755nm the laser absorbs into skin pigment as well as hair pigment, and treating tanned legs risks burns and pigment change.

Legs are the most sun-exposed area most people have. Shorts, dresses, patios, the lake — leg skin carries a tan long after your face has evened out. So the practical window opens once that fades.

Start leg laser hair removal in fall and the arithmetic works beautifully. Six sessions at eight-week intervals from October puts you finished around the following summer, with results in place for the season you actually want them.

What Should You Do Before a Leg Appointment?

  • Shave the day before or the morning of. The laser targets the follicle beneath the skin, not the hair above it.
  • Do not wax, pluck or use epilators for at least four weeks beforehand. Those remove the follicle’s target entirely.
  • No self-tanner for two weeks, and no real sun exposure on your legs.
  • Skip retinoids on the treatment area for a few days.

The American Academy of Dermatology gives the same preparation guidance.

Does Leg Laser Hair Removal Hurt?

Legs are among the easiest areas on the body. Most clients describe a warm elastic snap, and shins register more than thighs because there is less padding over the bone.

I run a Zimmer cold air system throughout, and I keep stainless steel ice rollers in the freezer for anywhere that needs extra help. Full legs takes around 45 minutes, lower legs closer to 20.

Can You Treat Legs While Breastfeeding?

Yes. I treat nursing clients regularly and there is no reason not to. Pregnancy is different — I do not treat during pregnancy, but that is a precautionary policy of mine rather than evidence that lasers pose any risk to a pregnancy. The two get lumped together constantly and they should not be.

Will Leg Laser Hair Removal Help With Ingrown Hairs?

Usually, yes, and for many clients it is the real reason they book. Ingrowns happen when a shaved or waxed hair curls back into the skin. Destroy the follicle and there is no hair left to grow inward. Most people notice a meaningful drop after two or three sessions, well before the area is finished.

Do You Treat Areas Other Than Legs?

Yes. Legs pair naturally with a Brazilian, which is the one area I can treat year-round because that skin stays covered and does not tan. There is more on seasonal timing in my post about laser hair removal in summer, and the full treatment list is on my SE Calgary page.
